The main objective of the OGN is to be able to help these children stand on their own two legs and take control of their lives through good education in a caring, conducive and loving environment. The OGN helps parents by providing the care and love that is needed for their children while their parents work, so that these children do not become rag pickers but have a stable and a reliable future. All the parents who have kids at the OGN are daily wage earners who work for two decent meals. The children have no place to go. They are either left in their houses like Laxmi or are left in the care of an elder child. These elder children often resort to stealing, are a bad influence and ultimately have a dark and bleak future.
At the OGN, our children total 60 in number and an average of 50 come by each day for day care and schooling programs. Seeing the inconvenience of these children and helpless situation of these parents and to avoid the biggest truth: If not cared for, these children will go back to the streets. This is the driving force behind the Orchid Garden Nepal's very existence.
